Is saving the flooring the best method?

This loss occurred due to a supply line break  from the dishwasher. We originally attempted to dry the flooring as it was custom made. Unfortunately, two days after we set up our equipment we noticed  that the materials were not making any progress. As to not compromise any other materials we decided to pull the remaining flooring and plywood underlayment. 

While the customer was disappointed that we had to remove their custom hardwood flooring, we explained to them it would the best idea to remove the flooring. Upon explanation of why it would be best to remove the flooring the customer was much more relieved. Would we not have removed all the affected flooring we could have compromised the sub-flooring, and potentially the joists under the home as well.
